OOOOOOO, spooky Fair Isle! All the gorgeous detail and cosy warmth of a traditional Fair Isle knit, only ours has a haunted castle, bats, gravestones, spider webs and skulls lurking amongst the stitches.

Knitted in cream and black against a deep charcoal background, traditional Fair Isle-inspired motifs mingle with our fabulously gothic castle scene around the yoke and cuffs.

It's old-school knitting with a wonderfully spooky Snag imagination, made in a super-soft, hardwearing wool blend that you can actually chuck in the washing machine.

Fair Isle knitting originated on the tiny, remote Scottish island that gave the technique its name, creating detailed patterns by working with different colours and carrying the unused strands behind the design.

Those floating strands create an extra layer of yarn inside the sweater, trapping warm air and making this clever knitting technique particularly cosy.

With a close-fitting shape, crew neck and ribbed hem, neckline and cuffs, you get all the warmth, texture and detailed colourwork of a traditional Fair Isle sweater, without the handwashing, reshaping and general preciousness.

Frequently asked questions

Are jumpers itchy?

Not ours, no. We use soft synthetic yarns like nylon and acrylic rather than wool, so you get the cosy knitted feel without the itch some wool jumpers can bring.

Can you machine wash a jumper?

Yes, ours can go in the machine on a wool cycle at 30 degrees, reshaped while damp and dried flat rather than tumble dried. Tumble drying is what tends to cause fuzzing, so it's worth skipping that step even if it feels quicker.

Are jumpers oversized?

Most of ours are cut with a relaxed, oversized fit rather than a fitted one, so there's room to layer underneath. Some styles run generously enough that they work as a short dress on someone smaller, so it's worth checking the length on the product page if that matters to you.

What fabric are jumpers made from?

It depends on the style. Some of ours are 100% nylon with a faux fur texture, while others are 100% acrylic for a more classic knit feel, and others are 100% cotton. It's worth checking the product page for the exact fabric.

Are jumpers true to size?

Yes, ours are, though we size by our own size guide rather than standard dress-size numbers, so it's worth checking that to find your fit. We'd always recommend ordering your actual size rather than sizing up for comfort.
